FAQ

Questions parents ask

Quick answers to what families ask most.

The basics

Are you connected to the church or the daycare that used to be here?
No to both. Ready Set Grow is a new, independent child care center that opened in 2026, with its own owners, teachers, and program. We share the Thornton Heights United Methodist Church building, and we fully renovated our space before opening.
What ages do you serve?
We have daycare and preschool programs for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old, plus before & after school care for kindergarten through 5th grade students at Skillin Elementary.
What are your hours?
Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm, year-round. Every hour is included in tuition, so using the full day never costs extra. We close for major holidays and at noon on the third Friday of each month so our teachers can train and plan together.

Teachers and safety

How experienced are your teachers?
Our two directors bring more than 50 years of experience in early childhood education, and every teacher has at least five years of their own. All staff are CPR and first aid certified, and full-time teachers complete at least 30 hours of training each year.
What are your teacher-to-child ratios?
Right now, every classroom has 1 teacher for every 4 children. As we grow, ratios will vary by age group, but they'll always meet or beat Maine's requirements. The infants classroom will maintain a 1:4 ratio at all times.
Are you licensed?
Yes. We're licensed by the State of Maine (License #8006715), and every hire passes a criminal background check and a child abuse and neglect check. See how we keep children safe on our story page.

Tuition and enrollment

How much is tuition?
Daycare and preschool run $265 to $415 a week, depending on age and schedule, with options from 2 to 5 days a week. Before and after school care is $285 a week during the school year. See each program page for full rates and what's included.
Do you accept subsidies or offer discounts?
Yes. We accept Maine DHHS child care subsidies, and our subsidy spots are first come, first served. Siblings also save 10% on the oldest child's tuition.
How do I enroll? Can I save a spot before my baby is born?
Start by getting in touch. We will answer your questions, set up a tour if you'd like, and help you save a spot. Expecting? Share your due date and we'll plan ahead for your baby's start.

Daily life

How much time do children spend outside?
Most of the day, in every season. Children come inside for snacks, lunch, and rest, as well as during extreme weather like thunderstorms or wind chills of 10°F and below.
What meals are included?
From 12 months on, all meals are included for all programs.

Daycare and preschool children get a grain and fruit for morning snack, a balanced lunch with milk, and a grain and veggie for afternoon snack. We follow USDA guidelines and Maine's 5-2-1-0 healthy habits program, so no juice or sugary drinks.

Infants have bottles on their own schedule, and before and after school kids get a balanced breakfast and an afternoon snack. We also accommodate allergies and special diets.
How will I stay connected during the day?
We keep parents updated throughout the day via the Brightwheel app: photos, naps, diapers, and meals, plus active messaging with teachers. We also have an open-door policy, so you're welcome to visit any time.
